Works at Birkdale Landfill Rehabilitation are progressing well. Stage two of works, a bypass lane are starting mid-September and should be complete by end of October (weather permitting). The completed bypass lane will enable vehicles with green waste to pass the queue of traffic to the gatehouse during peak periods, significantly reducing delays for all vehicles.
During bypass lane works, traffic management measures will be in place, including barriers and traffic control to allow for construction vehicles. Traffic will be disrupted at the entrance of the Birkdale Waste Transfer Station and delays may be experienced.
To avoid delays during this time:
- Minimise visits to Birkdale Waste Transfer Station
- Use the Redland Bay Waste Transfer Station at 761-789 German Church Rd (Redland Bay accepts all residential waste, however only accepts commercial greenwaste)
