Redland City Council is hosting two information sessions to help local businesses prepare for disasters.

Mayor Karen Williams said the sessions, in partnership with AusIndustry, Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce and Straddie Chamber of Commerce, would be held in Alexandra Hills on 23 January 2023 and Point Lookout on 6 February 2023.

“Both information sessions have been designed to provide business owners with information to help them minimise disruptions when there is a disaster or an emergency,” Cr Williams said.

“In times of crisis it can be difficult to know what to do first, which can be both overwhelming and stressful.

“Planning can help provide a framework for business continuity, delivering practical information on how businesses can prepare for a disaster and continue to operate afterwards.”

They will cover the four stages of disaster preparedness management, types of disasters, planning and testing, and the latest trends and opportunities in digital preparedness to help businesses shift from a reactive to proactive approach to help with continuity planning.

Details for Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Preparedness information sessions:

  • Alexandra Hills Hotel, 332 Finucane Road, Alexandra Hills on Monday 23 January from 8.30am-11.30am.
  • Point Lookout Bowls Club, 75 Dickson Way, Point Lookout, North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) on Monday 6 February from 3pm-5pm.
