Redland City Council has unveiled a stellar line-up of local performers for this year’s five-day festive celebration, Christmas on the Coast, at Raby Bay Harbour Park from 16 to 20 December.
The event, hosted by Redland City Council, combines the annual lighting of the city’s Christmas tree and community carols events with boutique markets, food vendors, live entertainment, rides and even a synthetic ice-skating rink.
Mayor Karen Williams said Christmas on the Coast offered an opportunity to get into the spirit of the holiday season while also providing a much-needed boost for local performers, traders and suppliers.
“On stage will be home-grown locals including internationally-acclaimed soprano Mirusia, 2014 The Voice Kids winner Alexa Curtis, and contemporary swing star Craig Martin and his big band,” she said.
“We are so proud of our local talent and will also be thrilled on stage by Redlands Coast residents such as Master of Ceremonies Tony Morrison, lyric tenor Iain Henderson, teen soprano Leah Lever, YouTube sensation Peppermint Ollie, Naree Cole, Sheldon College students Quinn and Zephram Chambers, multi-instrumentalist and singer Georgie Taylor, singer Anita Taylor and the AVA Choir, soprano Georgia Morton, cabaret and musical theatre performer Carole Williams, Vocal Manoeuvres Academy, and jazz/classical vocalist Mandy Woodend (Miss Mandy).
“Check out our Christmas on the Coast website for a full list of performers for each day of the festival.”
Cr Williams said there would also be activities to keep children entertained.
“There will be plenty of rides including a traditional carousel and inflatable jumping castles, and a different free family-friendly Christmas movie in the park each night from 7pm.
“There will also be a synthetic ice-skating rink set up in the park next to the event which will provide a lovely White Christmas feel to our festival.
“We’ll also have roving performers from local musical theatre company ROCKIT productions, boutique market stalls so you can pick up some special Christmas gifts, and families will be able to get a free socially-distanced photo with Santa.
“I look forward to joining the community at Christmas on the Coast as we celebrate how lucky we are to be in the most naturally wonderful place to live, play and do business.
“This year, more than ever, our community needs something special to celebrate the festive season in a COVID-safe way,” she said.
To meet COVID safety requirements, bookings are essential, with numbers restricted to 1500 people each day. Book your tickets now before they sell out.
