Redland City Council Parks & Conservation crews, along with Russell and Lamb Island Rural Fire Service (QRFS), will be undertaking multiple planned burns on Russell Island this week starting today Tuesday 13 August and going through to Friday 16 August 2019, commencing each day at approximately 9.30am (weather permitting).

Locations:

  • 172-216 High Street (Whistling Kite Wetlands)
  • 172-216 High Street (Whistling Kite Wetlands)
  • 69-73 Centre Road (State Education Land)
  • 165 Centre Road (Turtle Swamp Wetlands)
  • 148-174 Glendale Road (Melomys Wetland)
  • 148-174 Glendale Road (Melomys Wetland)

It is appreciated that these burns may cause some inconvenience, however all attempts will be made to limit any smoke hazards from the work. Traffic management will be in place as a contingency.

Motorists are advised to drive with cautions and to conditions. Residents should close windows and doors, and keep medications close by if suffering a respiratory condition.
