Redland Art Gallery’s 2017 exhibition calendar ends with a celebration of local artistry.

The final two exhibitions for the year, Connections: Redland Yurara Art Society and Bush Fragments in the Red: Coochie Art Group, include a diverse range and thought-provoking artworks which tell their own unique stories of Redlands.

Yurara’s 2017 exhibition Connections looks at the heritage of their members and connections to different cultures. Yurara Art Society members hail from various ethnic backgrounds and maintain a connection to their heritage while exploring their talent within this rich and creative community.

Redland Yurara Art Society formed as an art group in Cleveland in 1962 and membership has grown to approximately 100 artists. Operating from their local studio and gallery at Pinklands Reserve, Thornlands, they run a dynamic program of workshops and classes.

In galleries 2, 3, 4, Bush Fragments from the Red: Coochie Art Group features new work by the Coochie Art Group members. Working with artist mentor Nicola Hooper, members have created new work for this exhibition illustrating their passion for the local environment and its rare and unique flora and fauna. This enthusiastic group of artists has been holding art classes on Coochiemudlo Island since the 1970s.
