Artwork created by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children (Jarjums) will be exhibited at the Redland Art Gallery, Capalaba from Saturday 6 May to Tuesday 20 June coinciding with this year’s National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June). Jarjums Life Museum features drawn, painted, recorded and curated artwork by 86 Jarjums from Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) and Hymba Yumba Community Place. Their art pieces represent their home and everyday culture.

Inala Wangarra Creative Director Jane Jennison said the touring exhibition is “an intertwining exploration of visual arts, storytelling, photography, soundscapes and culture.

“Jarjums Life Museum is a collection of original works documenting the lives of these Jarjums – their here and now and what life is like growing up today,” Ms Jennison said.
