Update from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services – QFES about the vegetation fire on Straddie as at 2.40pm:

North Stradbroke Island (west of Mount Scott) – vegetation fire as at 2:40pm Thursday 1 December 2016

Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are on scene at a large vegetation fire burning in the vicinity of Fisherman’s Hut Track, North Stradbroke Island (west of Mount Scott).

Firefighters are working to contain the blaze which broke out earlier today. There is no threat to property at this time. Aerial support will also be assisting with fighting the fire.

Smoke may be visible to residents on the island and if they are affected they should close windows and doors. If suffering from a respiratory illness, keep medications close by. Motorists are asked to drive with caution and to conditions.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they should phone Triple Zero (000) immediately.
