Registration of cats and dogs is required annually, from the age of three (3) months.

The purpose of the program is:

To identify new cat and dog registrations, follow up on overdue cat and dog registrations and provide education to pet owners on responsible pet ownership.

Revenue received from animal registrations contributes to animal management activities including:

  • maintaining community safety,
  • providing pet ownership education,
  • enforcing the provisions of state and local laws,
  • responding to complaints,
  • providing an afterhours emergency response service and
  • enabling lost animals to be reunited with their owners.

A free copy of the approved inspection program will be available at Council’s Customer Service Centres, or via Council’s website.
