Grab your skateboard, scooter or BMX and head straight to Redlands Youth Plaza on Friday 8 April to see Triple J unearthed darlings RAWR Vanity live on stage at Redlands Youth Day Out.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said the band, who hail from the Redlands, were part of a fantastic line-up of free entertainment and activities on offer for those aged between 12-25 as part of the city’s celebration for National Youth Week.

“Following their recent tour of the US, RAWR Vanity are rapidly gaining acclaim in Australia and internationally and we’re delighted to welcome them back to our city for Redlands Youth Day Out,” Cr Williams said.

“Redlands PCYC has organised a fantastic program to celebrate National Youth Week and I encourage young people from across the city to join the buzz at Redlands Youth Plaza on Friday.

“Queensland’s Youth Week Champion and state finalist of the 2016 Young Australian of the Year, Tasman Bain, will also be there to talk to local youngsters.

“The 22-year-old is a determined campaigner to end violence against women, a shaper of global human rights and an emerging voice in youth mental health. He’s a fantastic role model for all Queenslanders and living proof that mental illness is no barrier to success.

“While the theme of this year’s celebrations is ‘Be the future’, Council believes the young people of the Redlands were more than the future; they are the here and now.”

Division 9 Councillor-elect Paul Gleeson said council was committed to working with community organisations to provide services and facilities, and undertake projects and activities that encourage their participation in the community.

“Young people are an integral part of our city and it is vital that we listen to their opinions because their beliefs matter and their voices deserve to be heard,” Cr Gleeson said.

“In November last year, we adopted a new youth strategy for the city that provides a comprehensive roadmap for youth initiatives in the Redlands over the next five years by celebrating and fostering the city’s young people.”

Redlands Youth Day Out is proudly presented by Redlands PCYC, in partnership with Redland City Council and the Redlands Youth Network, a group of local youth service providers in the city.
