Bushfire education for residents of Coochiemudlo Island

Below is a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) media release regarding an upcoming information session being held on Coochiemudlo Island .

Coochiemudlo Island residents are being encouraged to ‘Get Ready’ for the upcoming bushfire season by attending a Prepare Act Survive workshop next Saturday 9 August.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) Cleveland Area Commander Douglas King said residents on Coochiemudlo Island lived in a high vegetation area which increased the risk of a bushfire impacting their home.

“Attending this free information session is extremely valuable for local residents to ensure they have the techniques in place to protect life and property against bushfire,” Mr King said.

“Local Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) urban firefighters as well as the Redland City Council (RCC) Fire Management Team will host the session, which will educate residents about the importance of working together to prepare their homes and understand the risks associated with living close to bushland.”
