Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has released the below urging residents to prepare for expected wet weather over the coming days.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is urging residents to get ready for wet weather this week, with the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) predicting significant rainfall in many areas across the state.
Acting South Eastern Regional Director Steve Waddell said there were steps residents could take now to make sure they were prepared for heavy rainfall.

“Clean up your yard, including your gutters, to ensure there is less chance of flooding or storm damage on your property,” Mr Waddell said.
“Check to see if there are any roads or areas nearby that are likely to flood and make sure you have alternative routes planned.
“If there are elderly or vulnerable residents in your neighbourhood, assist them in preparing their homes and check in on them if the weather deteriorates.”
Central Western Regional Director Wayne Hepple said intense rainfall could result in the flooding of creeks, drains and causeways.
“Residents need to remember, it’s flooded, forget it,” Mr Hepple said.
“If you come across rising floodwaters, turn back and find an alternative route.
By entering flooded waterways or roadways, you are putting your life and the life of the emergency service people that come to your aid at risk.
“Parents, please supervise your children and discourage them from playing or swimming in flooded creeks and drains. Floodwaters are deadly and there are dangers, like debris, lurking beneath the surface.”
