Below is the latest update on the Straddie bushfire from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services – QFES.

Note that the fire is producing large volumes of smoke which may affect mainland suburbs in the Redlands later today.

For more information about staying safe in smoky conditions, please read this information sheet from Queensland Healthhttp://www.health.qld.gov.au/disaster/documents/bushfire-smoke.pdf

UPDATE: #Straddy vegetation fire – multiple #QFES crews remain on scene at a large, slow moving vegetation fire on the eastern end of Alfred Martin Way (formerly Tazi Road and also known as Trans Island Way) at Blue Lake, Stradbroke Island.
The fire, which is currently travelling in a north-easterly direction, is burning within containment lines and poses no threat to people or property. The fire is producing large volumes of smoke, which may affect Redcliffe and the northern suburbs of Brisbane.
Later in the day, due to a possible wind change to the east and then the north easterly direction, suburbs on the south side of Brisbane, Redland, Logan and the Gold Coast may be affected by smoke.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and adhere to local road closures. Affected residents should keep their doors and windows closed.
Those with respiratory illnesses are advised to keep their medications close by.
