SMBI Economic Development Forum

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams and Division 5 Councillor Mark Edwards are inviting Southern Moreton Bay Islands (SMBI) businesses and community groups to a SMBI Economic Development Forum on 14 June.

Mayor Karen Williams said the forum is part of Council’s commitment to creating a Community Economic Development Action Plan for SMBI, in consultation with islanders.

“This is an important opportunity for SMBI businesses and community to come together, discuss ideas and develop an action plan that will help steer the Islands towards a prosperous future,” Cr Williams said.

Councillor Mark Edwards said forum attendees would have opportunity to hear from inspiring key note speaker, Peter Kenyon who will also be speaking at a Community Connections Forum at the Redland Perfoming Arts Centre on the morning of 14 June.

“Described as a social capitalist and community enthusiast, collaboration and inspiration are key themes of Peter’s approach to the creation of healthy, caring, inclusive, sustainable and enterprising communities and local economies.

“Peter has already worked with over 1500 communities throughout Australia and overseas to facilitate fresh and creative ways to achieve community and economic renewal.” Cr Edwards said.
