There’ll be bushcare displays and workshops and lots of family-friendly hands-on activities including bird walks, weed weaving, building a frog pond, propagation, planting, native fish demonstrations and emerging weeds workshops.

There’ll also be the chance to meet a live koala, enjoy great music and entertainment and even take a short mystery bus trip.

It’s easy to make a family day of it by bringing a picnic, enjoying a sausage and drink from the community BBQ on offer, or having lunch at the Tea Garden Cafe.

Entry is free and all activities are free of charge.

Bushcare’s Major Day Out is a national day celebrating the work done by bushcare groups to restore conservation areas through tree plantings, weed removal, flora and fauna monitoring and seed collection and propagation.

With more than 40 groups currently operating in Redlands, there is plenty to celebrate locally.

For more information of Dad’s Day Out, visit the IndigiScapes ‘what’s on’ calendar or call 3824 8611.

Redlands IndigiScapes Centre is Redland City Council’s environmental education centre, located at Runnymede Road, Capalaba.
